He is also the founder and owner of software company American Optimal Decisions (since 2001) developing optimization software in risk management area: VaR, CVaR, Drawdown minimization. Dr. Uryasev is in charge of executing automatic trading strategies with the Portfolio Safeguard software developed at American Optimal Decisions. He is also responsible for the overall management of American Optimal Advisors. Dr. Uryasev holds MS from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and PhD from Kiev Glushkov Institute of Cybernetics. Dr. Uryasev is also a professor at the University of Florida, Gainesville, FL, USA. He is the director of the Risk Management and Financial Engineering Lab and the director of the PhD Program with Concentration in Quantitative Finance at the University of Florida. He is on the editorial board of a number of research journals and is the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Risk.
