The risk of loss in trading commodity futures, options, and foreign exchange ("forex") is substantial. Portfolio ManagerAleksey Bulin CTA Introduction Currently OCA is managing a portfolio which is referred to as uncovered option writing strategy. This involves being short “far out of the money” puts and/or calls. OCA uses a systematic approach to trading in that it relies heavily on a program of selling or “writing” options on commodity futures. OCA may also, from time to time, purchase options although it has rarely done so in the past. The implementation of this strategy, i.e., selecting how many puts and how many calls, and which prices and maturities of each; in turn depends upon both technical and fundamental considerations. The technical indicators will include the prices and premiums of various options, both in absolute terms in relation to their historic price levels; and in relative terms comparing the prices of puts to the prices of similar calls as well as the Deltas and Gammas of the options. The fundamental considerations include the condition of the commodity market, its trend and its volatility as well as economic, political, and climate forces which can influence the commodity market. In addition, OCA may take positions in the futures markets, including stock index futures based upon fundamental considerations such as historical price patterns, or technical considerations such as trend following. OCA may trade a broader portfolio of options, futures, and cash markets, including agricultural products, metals, currencies, financial instruments, and stock, financial and economic indices (collectively, “Commodity Interests”).
