CTA Introduction

Sunrise Capital Partners was founded in 1980 and currently manages proprietary assets. <br><br> RICHARD SLAUGHTER has been a Sunrise partner and portfolio manager since 1995 and is a pioneer of the alternative investment industry. Acting on a life-long passion for trading global markets, Slaughter launched his first systematic trading fund while completing his B.S. in Finance at San Diego State University in 1974. After graduate work in finance at San Diego State and Systems Management at the University of Southern California, Slaughter launched Commodity Monitors, Inc. (“CMI”) in 1977, one of the earliest systematic macro trading funds in the investment industry. After more than 15 years of successful trading, Slaughter merged CMI into Sunrise in 1995. Since joining Sunrise, Slaughter has spearheaded a multitude of trading and risk management innovations and continues to oversee all aspects of the firm’s trading, technology, and research and development activities. In addition, Slaughter serves as a member of Sunrise’s Management Committee. <br><br>JASON GERLACH joined Sunrise in 2008 and is the firm’s Managing Director. In his role, Gerlach determines and drives Sunrise’s overall business strategy and oversees Sunrise’s day-to-day business operations and activities. Gerlach also serves on Sunrise’s Management Committee. Prior to joining Sunrise, Gerlach was a Sunrise investor and an attorney with Hale and Dorr LLP (now WilmerHale) in Boston and later Howard Rice Nemerovski Canady Falk & Rabkin (now Arnold & Porter LLP) in San Francisco. Gerlach holds a J.D. cum laude and an M.A. in Public Policy Analysis and Public Administration from the University of Wisconsin (1996) and a B.A. in Government from Cornell University (1993). Gerlach is the Treasurer for, and a member of the Board of Directors of the California Hedge Fund Association. <br><br>CHRIS STANTON joined Sunrise in 2012 as the firm’s Director of Portfolio Strategy and serves as a member of Sunrise’s Management Committee. Prior to joining Sunrise, Stanton traded extensively in a wide range of global commodity and currency markets as Vice President and Portfolio Manager for Deerhurst Capital Management and as Capital Markets Officer for JP Morgan. In those roles, Stanton managed multi-million dollar portfolios and conducted all market and fundamental risk analysis for those portfolios. In addition, he provided broad finance-related legal and risk management services while working as an attorney with two prestigious global law firms, Quinn, Emannuel, Urquhart & Sullivan LLP and Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP in New York City. Stanton holds a J.D. cum laude from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Lehigh University.
