CTA Introduction Trigon is a New York-based alternative investment manager that trades futures and foreign exchange in both discretionary and systematic programs. Trigon was founded in 2002 by Ante Basic and Paul Mastroddi who together have nearly 50 years of investment experience working at some of Wall Street’s most recognizable firms. Today Trigon manages approximately $519 million in client assets. Trigon is a member of the National Futures Association and is registered with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Trigon’s investment philosophy embodies the belief that both discretionary and systematic trading strategies can successfully profit over time from directional price movements but that they will have different correlation and volatility properties. The investment approach incorporates the technical and fundamental backgrounds of the Portfolio Managers. “Trigon” refers to the three strategies traded since the company’s inception: a discretionary strategy that trades short-term interest rates; a discretionary “opportunistic” strategy that trades long-term interest rates, currencies, equity indices and commodities; and a systematic Foreign Exchange Strategy. Trigon’s two discretionary strategies - the Short-Term Rates Strategy and the Opportunistic Strategy - employ a fundamental global macro investment style to trade themes across fixed income, currency, equity index and commodity markets. These strategies use analysis of economic data and market conditions to formulate top-down investment themes expected to materialize over the coming weeks to several months. Trigon’s systematic strategy incorporates a proprietary multi-time frame model that trades a select group of major, dollar-block and emerging market currency pairs. The model includes short-term and mediumterm components which enable it to profit from short-term (days) and longer term (weeks/months) price movements.
